We receive a lot of questions and comments about our Rare Values. Here we'll answer the most common questions, and we hope that this will explain to you how we do our Rare Values.
Q: In V12, you can now trade credits. Will you start showing Credit values for rares instead of Rubber Duck values? A: We might do this. We'll be looking at trade rooms and seeing how people use credits to trade. If there is a demand for Credit Values for every single rare, then we might start to provide those values.
Q: The Club Sofa can be bought by creating a new Habbo and joining Habbo Club for 20 credits. Why does Habbox say it is worth 40 credits of normals? A: This is because credits (C) are not worth the same as ducks or norms (RD). Credits are worth more than ducks, because not everybody can buy credits and you can turn credits into any piece of furni you want. If you're trying to buy a Club Sofa with normal furni, it will cost more than 20 creds of normals because the seller will want more than what they paid for it, and also because norms aren't in demand as much as Club Sofas. The buyer is willing to offer more too.
Q: Why does Habbox say a Club Sofa is worth 40 Rubber Ducks and not just 40 Credits? A: The reason we say 40 RD not 40 C, is because 40 C isn't correct. Credits and RD are not the same thing. We could say 40 "creds of normal furni", but some people might find that confusing. 1 Credit is worth 4RD which means you need 4 cred of normal furni to get 1 Credit (so you could trade a lodge corner [3RD] and a lodge stool [1RD] for a credit to get an even trade, that is if the seller wants that furni).
Q: How does Habbox get it's values? A: We have Rare Values Reporters working for us, who spend a lot of time visiting trade rooms on Habbo. They watch what people are trading, and report this information back to us. For example, if they see a lot of people trading a Red Amber Lamp for 3 Club Sofas, they will tell us this. If they see this lots of times, we change our value to match it.
Q: Who determines what a rare is worth? A: The value of a rare is determined by everybody who trades together. Although one person might trade more for a certain rare than another, there is always an average value that is offered for a certain rare. Usually the average value that is OFFERED by people who are looking for a certain rare is LOWER than the average value that is ASKED by people who are willing to sell that rare. Habbox shows the average value of all the trades that took place. This means that if our value for a certain item is correct, most people who are selling this item will ask for a little more than what Habbox says, and most people who want to buy this item will offer a little less that what Habbox says. For example if most people ask 34 Club Sofas for their Throne, and at the same time lot of others offer 32 Club Sofas for a Throne, then Habbox will say a Throne is worth 33 CS.
Q: Why does everybody in trade rooms say 5 HC when they mean 5 CS? A: This is because in the beginning the Club Sofa was called the HC Sofa. Later the name was changed to Club Sofa, but everybody still calls them HCs, short for HC Sofas.
Q: Why are Thrones worth so much, can't Habbox lower the value to say 5 hcs and make them affordable for everybody? A: Habbox does NOT set the value, we only report about what we see furni being traded for in trade rooms. The Throne is worth so much because it is a very popular item, and a lot of Habbos are willing to offer a lot of furni for it.
Q: Why does Habbo Club furni drop in value frequently or have such a low value in the first place? A: Habbo Club furni is brought into the hotel in large amount daily, this means there is a large quantity of these items and so they are easy enough to find an buy. As more and more Habbo Club furni is brought into the hotel each day the value starts to go down as the supply of the furni is much higher then the demand.
Q: How can we pay 1.8 CS for a rare, we can pay a Club Sofa and a Dicemaster, but that is 1.5 CS, how do we get the remaining 0.3 CS? A: What you can do is add some normal or seasonal furni. You can work out how much you need to add to make 0.3 CS. Also you can add credits to the deal, say you were buying a rare worth 1.8CS but you only had a 1.5CS you could add 4 or 5 credits to make up the difference.
Q: What makes one piece of furni a Super Rare, and another a Normal Rare? A: There is no clear definition of what is a super rare, and what not. Habbox calls a rare a super rare if it has not been brought into the hotel in large quantities. Super rares have (officially) never been put in the catalogue, but only given out by Habbo as a gift, to Habbo staff or to winners of Habbo competitons. At some point most of these rares were for sale in the catalogue for a short time by accident, but they are still very rare.
Q: Why are the Throne, Russian Samovar and Holopod not super rares, since they were never released in the catalogue? A: In 2002 each Habbo received a gift from Ione, the Hotel Manager at that time, because of her birthday. Each gift contained one of these three furni. As Habbox defines a super rare as a peice of furni that hasn't been brought into the hotel in large quantities and Ione's gifts were given to many people, we class them as normal rares.
Q: How do i become a Rare Values Reporter? A: Every so often job applications open for you to get a trial job in the Rare Values department. You can find out if job applications are open in many ways. One way is to keep checking the banners on Habbox.com to see if there is an advert for a Rare Values Reporter trial. You can also check the announcments on Habbox forum (Habboxforum.com). When applications are open you will have to send in an application and you may get yourself a job!
Q: What is a Categorized Rare? A: These can also be called Seasonals or Misc Furni. These are all the piece of furni that are at first released in the catalogue for a few weeks but once they are removed they become Seasonal or Misc Furni. We have now put them on the Categorized Rare page to make it easier for you to find the values as there are many of them. A Seasonal will be a piece of furni released for say Christmas or Habboween whereas a Misc piece of furni is something released as a theme like Diner or Tiki
