When Daniel Radcliffe rose to fame, he made a mistake which could have ruined his whole career.
The star of the Harry potter films, Daniel Radcliffe has told how he became addicted to alcohol while coming to terms with his new found fame. He said that he became reliant on alcohol to enable him to enjoy other things and that there were a few years where he was trying to live a famous person’s lifestyle, which he wasn’t really suited to. Daniel Radcliffe said that it was while he was working on the 2009 film ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’, that his drinking became an issue.
He now says that he has not touched any alcohol since August 2010, although he would love to be someone who could go to a party and have a couple of drinks and enjoy himself, but that doesn’t work for him. Daniel Radcliffe was just nine when he was chosen to play the part of the schoolboy wizard in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Eight films later, the series is the biggest film franchise of all time. Daniel Radcliffe and his co-stars Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) are now household names and Radcliffe is said to be worth and estimated forty eight million pounds.
Emma Watson, who is Hermione in the films, has told Sky News that she is suffering mixed emotions now that her Potter days are coming to a close. Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley has said that he finds it hard to come to terms with the fact that its is now all over. Released last November, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 broke five box office records. It made £17.5 million in three days in the UK, which made it the most successful opening weekend in history. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the final installment, premieres on Thursday in Trafalgar Square, London.
