A police investigation has been launched after a suspicious package was discovered outside Bolton’s benefits agency office at 7:50am on Friday morning. The package was a mobile phone box, with a note attached to it by an piece of elastic. The note read ‘”Open this now or ring me” followed by three phone numbers (probably bomb detonators). The seal on the box had been broken, which raised suspicion further.
Hundreds of people were forced out of buildings and traffic was chaotic as large parts of the town centre was blocked off. Bomb disposal experts were called in and paramedics were called in on stand by. The Royal Logistics squad deployed a robot to do a controlled explosion, which took place at around 10am.
My friend happened to be in Bolton town centre at this time. He said ”There were police blocking off many of the main roads into the town centre. It was really hectic and everyone was really worried!” Do you know any of your relatives who live around Bolton? If so, contact them!
