People in Cape Town, South Africa feared as they thought they where in the middle of a gang gun
battle, but later found out it was a mistake

Families in Cape Town, South Africa had feared they were caught up in a gang gun battle after hearing machine gun fire near their homes, which were in Cape Town’s most gang ridden areas.

The locals dived for cover and called the police who found that the shooting, early Tuesday morning, was in fact scenes being shot for actor Denzel Washingtons new thriller film ‘Safe House’.

Residents from surrounding areas such as Langa, Bonteheuwel and Athlone said they weren’t informed about the shoot and heard gunshots between 2:30 and 4:30am. Bonteheuwel resident Chadwyn Samuels said at about 3am he jumped out of bed after hearing gunshots.

The police said it was irresponsible that the film company had not warned the local residents about what was happening, but the company responded by saying that the locals had been told.
