As the holiday is coming around, I have interviewed our very own DJ Conor about his annual Christmas show on HabboxLive.
What inspired you to make your Christmas show?
Well, with it drawing ever closer to Christmas I’ve been listening to Christmas music for a few weeks before I even went to Hannah (Radio Manager) about the idea. I thought if I love Christmas music, may as well make a show out of it, which came to Habboxmas. I came up with that name with Habbo, then Xmas on the end.
What traditions do you have for Christmas?
I only put my decorations up towards the end of November to the beginning of December as I love the lights and decorations. I normally start my Christmas dinner on the evening of Christmas Eve, with putting the meat in the oven to slowly cook and prepare the veg. I then wake up in the morning all set, open any presents and turn all the food on to cook, all of this whilst listening to Christmas music. I then have my food and look for a movie to watch on TV.
What is your favourite Christmas memory?
Well, I’ve always been into the UK and Ireland show called Mrs Browns Boys. A couple of years ago I got the full box set of all their TV episodes and extras on the DVDs, as well as books and a cup of Hot Chocolate in it. I couldn’t stop watching, reading, or using them.
What is the best gift you have ever received/given?
The best gift I’ve ever gotten has to be the Mrs Browns Boys merchandise. The best give I’ve given has to be a big light up letter of my mothers initial of her first name.
If you could pick anyone at Habbox who has been the nicest this year?
Oh wow, that’s a hard question, we’ve all worked hard this year, especially the managers, making sure all the departments are up to scratch and kept going through the year. But I’d also like to give a massive shoutout to our General Manager, Laura. Sometimes she goes unnoticed, but without her, most of the Habbox features wouldn’t be possible.
Who has been the naughtiest this year at Habbox?
Oh, again that’s a hard question, we’ve all had our ups and downs no matter what rank you’re in. To be honest without every member of staff at Habbox, from trialists to management to general management, Habbox wouldn’t be here. So I don’t think any was ‘naughty’ this year.
What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
Oh, that has to be the decorations. I love all the lights and tinsel. I’ve always loved put my decorations up because not only does it get me into the Christmas mood, it also makes me happy to know a great family holiday is just around the corner.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Oh, that would have to be a song by The Killers called Don’t Shoot Me Santa. I only heard the song about 2 years ago and I fell in love with it. It’s not like the normal songs that The Killers normally record and I’ve listened to it every Christmas ever since.
Do you plan to do these Christmas shows again next year?
I do plan to yes, but whether it happens is up to the Radio Manager of the time as they choose what weekly shows go ahead and which don’t, but hopefully, it will and I’ll carry on the tradition of being the one to bring Christmas to Habbox.
Do you have any surprises in store for us around Christmas?
Oh, you’ll have to see! I’ve got a few things up my sleeve, but that’s where they’re staying at the minute. 🙂
Is Santa real?
Well, the story of Santa is that there once was someone called St Nicholas which used to give children presents on one day of the year, which turned out to be Christmas day. So the answer to that questions is yes, I do think Santa is real.
Remember to tune into DJ Conor’s Christmas show every Saturday at 6 pm GMT until Christmas and on Christmas day.
