The commercial trade in wild animals is a multi-million dolloar business that constantly puts animals survial at threat. Many animals each year are inhumanenly and cruely treated. The current illegal trade business of animals is estimated to be valued at US$6 to 20 billion, creating the risk of extinction to animals that are traded.
There are millions of animals all over the world that are captured and then either sold or killed in the wildlife trade.
These captured animals are either sold as live animals as illegal pets or killed, and then sold as parts as food or as ingredients for traditional medicines.
