Ke$ha Scores First UK Number One Single!0
By - Posted 4th July, 2015 at 9:07 pm

Ke$haUS pop singer Ke$ha has hit number one for the first time in the UK singles chart with her new single ‘We R Who We R‘.

The track serves as the lead single from her repackaged version of debut album ‘Animal‘, named ‘Cannibal‘, and since also hitting number one in the US and Australia late last year, has become her most globally successful single to date.

“That’s amazing!” she said, speaking on the phone to Reggie Yates on Radio 1 upon hearing the news. “This is my first UK number one and I’m obsessed with the UK so thank you so much! Genuinely, I love spending time in the UK, I’ve threatened not to leave before and the fact you took my song to number one means the world.

Ke$ha pushed ‘Grenade‘ by Bruno Mars down to number two in the singles chart, after reigning at the top spot for two weeks. His album ‘Doo Wops & Hooligans‘ is this week also number two in the albums chart, with Adele’s second album ‘21‘ becoming this weeks number one, with huge sales of 208000, the biggest so far this year. Her song ‘Rolling In The Deep‘ moves down to number three in the singles chart, down one place from last week.

Also in the singles chart, Diddy Dirty Money’s Coming Home‘ stays at number four, with electronic duo Chase & Status’ single ‘Blind Faith‘ rounding off the top five. Elsewhere in the singles chart, Britney Spears’ comeback single ‘Hold It Against Me‘ moves down two places from its peak of number six to number eight this week. Chris Brown also has a new entry this week at number ten with ‘Yeah 3X‘, his first hit single in years after his controversial abusive relationship with Rihanna, who is ironically one place above him in the chart at number 9 with ‘What’s My Name‘.

As a big Ke$ha fan I’m absolutely thrilled for her getting her first UK number one. I’m also really pleased for Adele’s success in the albums chart!
