Like Australia haven’t suffered enough with all the flooding, but it looks like
A large area of Northern Australia is bracing itself for the arrival of a ‘monster’ storm. One of the biggest cyclones, ‘Cyclone Yasi’, is 500km wide and is heading for the state of Queensland, which is already suffering from recent devastating floods.
Queensland Prime Minister, Anna Bligh, has predicted deadly surges inland and has described it as a ‘monster, killer storm’. The Cyclone could hit anywhere along the 400 mile stretch between Cairns and Bowen sometime late on Wednesday evening (local time).
The cyclone is said to be a Category 3 cyclone and is very likely to be upgraded to a Category 4, with wind speeds of up to 160 miles per hour. Some airlines are prepairing special flights to enable people to escape the area, but as the storm is so wide, finding somewhere safe will be difficult for tens of thousands of people.
I think i’m really glad I don’t live in Australia, but I do at the same time because at least its warm there.
