Football player in Australia got sent off for having a Mohican
An Australian rules football player was sent off during a match because the umpire decided his haircut was ‘dangerous’. Nathan Van Someren has a spiky Mohawk hairstyle and was told that it could injure another player.
Nathan, who is a player for Simpson, in Victoria, said he couldn’t believe the umpires decision. He has had the hairstyle for the last three years and as umpires have made jokes about it in the past. Nathan thought that he was joking this time too.
Before the game the umpire told Van Someren that he couldn’t play as his hair was dangerous, but allowed him to play the first and second quarters of the match against Otway District, before sending him off in the third quarter. Nathan who is twenty five years old has said he will not get rid of his hairstyle.
