President Barack Obama has come to Ireland
The ancestral home in Ireland of US President Barack Obama has given him a hero’s welcome during his visit. About three thousand people were in the streets of Moneygall welcoming the President. His great great great grandfather was born there.
Born in 1831, Falmouth Kearney was a shoemaker who emigrated to America in 1850 during the Irish patato famire. President Obama and Mrs Obama met the mayor of Moreygall and Mrs Obama gave a hug to twenty six year old Henry Healy who is the Presidents distant cousin.
The couple went to the Kearney ancestral home and also went to Ollie Hayes pub where they met extended family members, including representatives of the Healy, Donawan and Benn families.
