The 4th part to the phenomenonally sucessful Pirates Trilogy was filmed and shown in 3D, and both this fact, and its stars (Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz) have helped to make this film a great success. It has currently grossed an impressive £11.6 million, ending the recent domination of the top ten by Thor and Fast & Furious 5.
On Stranger Tides posted the biggest box office opening of 2011 and is Disney’s fourth largest opening ever in the UK. The total gross (£11m) is also more than the whole rest of the top ten combined. Worldwide, the gross has escalated to $256 million (£159 million), passing the record set by Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in 2009.
Have you seen the film? What did you think of it! Personally, I don’t think it’ll be the same without Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, but I’ll give it a shot, because I’m a huge fan of the Pirates series!
