Are you into fashion? Have you ever joined in on a fashion trend? Hit the “read more” button to find out about a trend that was once popular!
Some of us like fashion and we like to join in on the latest trends. There is one fact about trends; they eventually become outdated. You might be one of the few to stick to the trend even after no-one follows it anymore. Maybe you prefer to stick to only the current trends. Whatever trends you like, old or new, you can read about a trend that many of us followed.
Loom Bands
The colourful, elastic bands that many of us teens loved: loom bands! These took the world by storm and they allowed us to be creative with something as basic as elastic bands. With a simple technique of hooking bands together we were able to make something that we could wear and enjoy. Loads of people were making tutorials on YouTube! This trend took place in the Summer of 2014 and ended a little while later.
We could make many designs, including fishtail and starburst, and whenever we’d finished a design we would love to show it to all of our friends! Back when this trend was popular, I saw that many students in my school would wear loom bands that were made by themselves or by others.
Some people have even decided to do some crazy things with loom bands. There has been a world record on the longest loom band chain! Isn’t that insane?! Well there’s also been some people who have made dresses out of them. A lot of our jaws dropped when we heard about people doing this!
Of course, there were some frustrations with loom bands. Our hooks would break, our bands would snap or maybe we just couldn’t make a design shown on a tutorial. We’d end up throwing a tantrum or crying our hearts out. In the end, if we succeeded it would all be worth the frustration. If not, then we had only suffered more of that heartbreak.
I wish this trend was still popular as it was probably one of the best ones ever! Unfortunately, like every trend, this one had to lose its limelight. It did have a pretty good run for a concept that was very simple!
What do you think of this old trend? Do you still make loom bands? Let me know in the comments section below!

xD Totally relateable! In my school a few years back, they had to ban loom bands; students were selling then, which is kind of wrong considering you can make one yourself pretty easily. My fave design is bridge, black edges, rainbow center.
