Reality Review: Oscars Hit our Screens!0
By - Posted 4th July, 2015 at 9:34 pm

After a week on hiatus, we’re back with another juicy article riddled with gossip, rumors and the best of the best in the world of reality! This week we delve into Eurovision, still talk about King Cowell and go Idol with American Idol.

Over in the UK, there is no much going apart from the same old story of Simon Cowell and his gang of crooners going around and tying their hardest to pick talented three year olds who can sing in Britain’s Got Talent. Many countries all across Europe are also gearing up for the annual Eurovision contest in a few months, which will include an interesting yet surprising entry by the UK in the form of Engelbert Humperdinck. The ol’ Hump, who has not been relevant to charts for over three decades will be trying to score a respectable place for Britain, which saw last year’s entry, Blue come 11th. Only time will tell if Hump comes out with a hit that can secure victory. However, utilizing him can be a brilliant maneuver, as he is popular across Eastern Europe and could even secure victory.

Over the Atlantic, Oscar fever hit the stage this week. The show itself was like a retro vintage performance, with Billy Crystal returning, a silent movie ‘The Artist’ winning Best Picture, the 82 year old Christopher Plummer winning Best Support Actor- it felt like we could have been back in the 40s. There were no surprises during the telecast apart from Crystal making a joke about African Americans and Angela Jolie posing with her bare leg. Also in the US, American Idol is in full swing with a top 13, who in my view are quite weak this year despite the judges saying billions of times in a show how talented they all are. That show is dead. Also, Dancing with the Stars is getting a new cohort of stars to dance their way to the crown. America’s Got Talent has also started filming, with new judge Howard Stern not doing anything controversial quite yet.

Tell us what you think on what happened on the television this week, were the Oscars hot or not and do you think shows such as American Idol are dying out due to a worn out formula? Click ‘read more’ to drop by a comment.
