Actress Reese Witherspoon, well known for starring as Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde movies, has revealed that a 3rd movie to the franchise may be in the making.
The Cruel Intentions star would not only be starring in the movie but she is set to be on board with producing the movie with the help of Hello Sunshine, her production company who made movies such as Gone Girl and Big Little Lies. Original producers of the franchise Marc Platt and Adam Siegal are set to return to help with writing the movie’s script.
The 42 year old actress came forward and spoke out saying, “We’ve thought about it. I need somebody really clever to come up with a great idea and we’ll do it. I do think it’s a good time to do it – I think women need that kind of positivity right now.”
However as far as the 3rd movie itself going ahead, it remains an unknown until more news comes afloat. The mother of three has been liking many Instagram posts in regards to the new movie, and it was revealed to the public some time last year that the actress was “totally on board” but needed an idea for how the movie would play out. There have been rumours by fans that if the movie does happen that it will most likely be centred around empowerment amongst women.
The first official Legally Blonde movie took to a total of $141 million at the global box office on an $18 million budget, while its sequel made approximately $124 million on a $45 million budget.
