Review – Versailles (TV Series) ★★★★★0
By - Posted 12th November, 2017 at 9:03 pm Entertainment

I don’t know about you guys and girls, but I LOVE finding a good TV series to binge watch.

So, after binge watching all of my TV fav’s, I had nothing to watch and aimlessly scrolled through Amazon Prime Video looking for something good to watch, which is when I stumbled upon the truly addictive series that is, Versailles.

Now, I do love a bit of history, so it was nothing out of the ordinary for me to choose such a series, but let me just tell you, it was worth every second of my devoted time!

I spent two nights binge watching the 2 season’s available, and I cannot wait for season 3.

I found it to be one of those series that really draws you in, as if you are there, at that particular time period, or even that you would have loved to have been part of that era – dressed in fine cloth, joining in on the soirée’s, looking upon a palace that is so exquisite that your eyes can’t handle such finery.

Versailles Synopsis

Versailles, 1667. Haunted by the trauma of the Fronde, as the nobles of his court begin to rebel against the monarchy, 28-year-old King Louis XIV of France and Navarre (George Blagden), in a Machiavellian political move, decides to make the nobility submit by imposing a definitive move of the court from Paris to Versailles, his father’s former hunting lodge. Trapped by their king’s “invitation”, the nobles of Paris gradually come to see the castle as a gilded prison, and soon even the most humble courtiers of the king begin to show their viciousness as the alcoves of secrets, politics, and war are maneuvered through, revealing Versailles in all its glory and brutality.

The actors and actresses are incredible and so perfectly fitted to the roles. The parts they play are powerful, dominant and strong, and they do a DAMN good job at portraying such historical figures.

I really do urge you all to give it a watch, as to me, it is DEFINITELY worth it, however, I will mention that there is quite a few scenes of a sexual nature, so it’s probably best you only watch it if you’re 16+.
