She’s not a happy lady after having to soften her performance of ‘S&M’ at the Brits.
We all know Rihanna, she first burst onto our screens in 2005 with her debut album, ‘Music of the Sun’. At the tender age of 17, she was the perfect role model for the young girls of today. Back then she wasn’t very popular, but became more known when she released her Worldwide Number 1 song, Umbrella. Some may say the rest is history, but after that she began her dramatic transformation into the music sensation we see today. Even winning the record for being the first female artist to have 5 number 1 singles in the UK.
More recently she released her new single ‘S&M’, which has caused controversy worldwide. The song is banned on Radio 1, as people believe the lyrics are too vulgar. Whereas the video is banned in 11 countries, as it’s too raunchy for the public. However, this hasn’t affected its popularity, as the song is already at number 20 in the UK downloads chart, despite being ahead of its release.
But the single is still causing problems for poor Rihanna as she’s been told by the bosses of the Brits to change some of the lyrics ahead of her performance at London’s o2 Arena this Tuesday. The planned performance was said to be ‘eye-popping’ but now the bosses are worried she may not perform ‘S&M’ at all and may instead go for a more family friendly song. This isn’t the first time Rihanna’s performances have been a subject of controversy, last year she angered viewers on the X Factor with her performance of ‘What’s My Name’.
Do you think Rihanna will perform ‘S&M’ this Tuesday? If not, what song would you be happy to see her perform instead?
