One of are heroes from world war one has passed away in Australia
The worlds last known World War One veteran has died at the age of one hundred and ten. Charles Choules, who was known to his comrades as ‘Chuckles’ died in Australia. Charles Choules was British born and he joined the Royal Navy when he was just fifteen and he served on the HMS Revenge.
He emigrated to Australia in the 1920s and served in the military until 1956. Mr Choules passed away in a nursing home in his adopted city of Perth. He had been married to his wife Ethel for seventy six years, although she passed away three years ago.
The couple had three children and two grandchildren. Mr Choules was born in 1901 in Pershore, Worcestershire. He lied about his age at seventeen. After completing his service in the navy he joined the Naval Dockyard Police
