Northumbria police have said that a woman has been attacked as she jogged along the seafront in Sunderland.
The 33 year old woman was on the promenade at Seaburn and went down to the beach after hearing a cry for help at 6.45pm on Friday. She was then assaulted at knifepoint which left her distressed and shaken, but luckily, not needing hospital treatment.
The woman is now being assisted by specially trained officers. Police are carrying out enquiries in the area and are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen or heard anything to contact the police straightaway.
There really should be less of this and I think that people who go round mugging people with knives are just cowards.
