Hippos adorned our Habbo clients from January 2015 in an array of colours. These colours included red, pistachio and brown and they were released for doing something different every month throughout the year.

Sometimes you could win Hippos by participating in certain games such as the Games Hub selection Habbo revealed closer to the end of the year and also by winning different competitions which required you to put in a bit more effort.

2015 saw the end of new Hippos being released and you would have thought that would be the end of it all; no more Hippos and maybe even something completely different and worthwhile that allows players to win furni throughout the year. In a way, Habbo did think of something; another rainbow selection of a certain animal…

The very end of 2015 saw Habbo release Beryl Sloth to players; a brown coloured sloth that would soon be recoloured into every other colour that they could possibly fit in throughout the year, but is it really worth the effort?

It’s a nice idea gaining a Sloth every month, even better when they offer a rarity about them and withstand their value, but currently, you’re able to win one in the Games Hub yet again. It’s already a worthless item that will potentially be given out all the way throughout the year and will ultimately be as pointless as a Trax Disk nowadays. Not only that but far too many will be in circulation. Hopefully, this year some of the Sloths will offer more rarity and value than the Hippos last year – only a couple of them have done remotely well in terms of value.

Rare furniture doesn’t have that uniqueness on Habbo anymore, one of the last ‘rares’ to be released was the Purple Spaceship Door, which admittedly was long awaited to finish collections, but what’s next? Has Habbo milked the idea of recoloured animals so much that they go for the older style rare, who knows?

I may be the only one thinking this, but it would be interesting to see whether players would prefer different, creative and unique features brought to Habbo… or just a collection of recoloured Sloths.
