Habbox: A History
Today, boys and girls, we’re taking a leisurely stroll down Memory Lane to look at a handful of Habbox highlights over the last decade of our official affiliation with Habbo.
While we’re celebrating a full FIFTEEN years of Habbox this week, the last ten are particularly special to us. They mark the time since Habbo reconsidered their decision to abolish the “official” fansite listings – a move they’d made in good faith as an attempt to avoid nepotism, but ultimately led to a slew of scammy and spammy sites being set up. Oops.
~*+*+*+*~ ANYHOO… ~*+*+*+*~
Along with being the first and therefore longest-running active Habbo fansite, we at Habbox have the distinction of being a constant feature on the list of official sites ever since its return in 2008. Not too shabby. Over the years we’ve had many many many (many) trials and tribulations, and it’s certainly never been dull! Since 2008 we’ve seen the rise of Twitter as an important promotional tool, an enormous change to the structure of the hotel following a merger of all English-speaking hotels into one, the creation of our insanely detailed Wiki, a whole bunch of weird and wonderful LTD Edition rares, and of course a huuuuuuuuuuge number of similarly weird and wonderful people in and out of the revolving door that is the Habbox membership.
Win yourself some credits by letting us steal your memories straight out of your brain.
In this time, it’s certainly been a privilege but also for the most part an absolute pleasure for us to be an official fansite. There are far too many great memories of my own to list, and despite how great I am I’m still just one person. The collective memories of everyone who’s been a part of our journey through life as an official fansite could fill volumes, so we’ll settle for just a small selection right here and now. That’s where you come in.
In the comments section pop down YOUR personal favourite memory from the last 10 years of Habbox – if doesn’t matter if you’re new here or an old hand, we want to know your thoughts! As a cheeky little incentive, there’s 15c up for grabs for one randomly selected comment. Good luck, and thank you all for your part in Habbox history, whether big or small!
When I logged in on Habbo.com for the first timer after the Danish Hotel closed the navigator guided me to Habbox Help Desk. Right there a new journey began!
When I loged onto Habbox.com and the Forum to fine the new design and theme made by lawrtawrrr in 2018.
Playing a game of trivia race/stealing chairs with Lanyon/Philip … crying with laughter most of the game
Hmm I dont know… My favourite memory at habbox is when Shonly told me she would ‘gladly’ fire me :’D
Too many memories for me personally obv since I’m ancient but certain moments of togetherness, especially during HxSS, are always very special
When I first got a trial offer for the Help Desk in 2011, I was just looking on the forum and it popped up and I screamed irl because I was super excited
too many memories to list, i have been a part of Habbox since I joined Habbo in 2008. I first heard of Habbox from a game that was being hosted (back when there were games such as takeshi’s castle / carnival etc) and from then i have listened to habbox frequently and played in many events.
When I posted my first thread and didnt have a clue what I was doing. But finally getting to know my way around things.
Nothing can’t compare to the butterflies I’ve had flying inside my stomach before I actually sent my first collaboration for the gfx department, February 2016, something about welshcake sitting on the floor falling in love, a valentine day’s banner and stuff. That feel’s happened because, well, I really felt as though I wasn’t good enough to make those kind of habbo graphics. In some extent I was right because the graphic I made wasn’t the “chosen” one by the requester (that was kind of expected so I just silently celebrated with myself (WOHOO I’VE SOMETHING TO PRACTICE MY PHOTOSHOP SKILLS WITH) but, besides the average newbie, I kept producing and kept sharping my taste up, even when it came to those kind of graphics that nothing have to do with Habbo, you know?
I joined Habbo in 06 & Habbox was the place I went to find out anything and everything I needed to know.. the community have always been so friendly and welcoming to all… <3

I still don't know what I am doing… lol
The hand. I can still remember the hand as my oldest memory of Habbo and it shall not be forgotten!
