A truck driver from New Zealand ends up like a balloon
A truck driver from New Zealand inflated like a balloon when he accidentally fell buttocks first onto a compressed air nozzle. Forty Eight year old Steven McCormack slipped between the cab and the trailer while working on the truck on Saturday, dislodging the compressed air hose that feeds the brakes.
The hose was attached to a brass fitting, which pierced Mr McCormack left buttock, sending compressed air into his body. Mr McCormack began to scream as his neck, feet and hands began to swell, making him feel that he was going to explode.
His work mates rushed to help, packing ice around his swollen neck and switching off the compressed air. The brass nozzle was removed by ambulance men, who then rushed Mr McCormack to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries by a surgeon who had to drain one of his lungs which filled with fluid during the ordeal.
Mr McCormack is now recovering in hospital after the freak accident which could have killed him.
