Helen Beard, 44, the heroic tourist told police she was in the pool of the Orlando hotel on Wednesday night around 11pm, when she saw the small girl dangling from her balcony window which was on the third floor.
It is told that she ran from the pool and stood directly under the fall line of the child who she then saw fall and ‘strike’ a second-floor railing. Luckily, she was successful in catching the child thus breaking her fall.
However, the 16-month old toddler dropped so quickly that she slipped from Ms Beard’s hands and hit the ground. She cared from the child until paramedics arrived shortly after the incident.
The toddler was taken to hospital where medical staff stated she was in good health and had no injuries.
“I’m thanking the Lord above right now for saving my child’s life. I’m also thanking that lady because she was an angel sent from heaven,” the girl’s mother, Helena Myles, mother to the toddler said.
Ms Myles told the police that she had left Jah-Nea (The infant) in the watchful eye of friends visiting who said they did not notice the child leaving the hotel room.
Ms Beard stated that the infant was most likely to have fallen through the railing in the hotel walkway.
Police have said no criminal charges have been filed.
