When version 13 of Habbo was released, a brand new and exciting invention came about and still exists today! That’s right; we’re talking about the beloved Ecotron. It was created as a method of recycling old furniture for brand new furniture items but it also accompanies campaigns about the environment as well – encouraging people to think more about reusing and recycling old items in ordinary life as well as Habbo. There have been many complaints that it is now useless, or that the gifts are worthless, but we shall be covering all of these later.
Now, it’s time to learn all about the Ecotron…
V13 – The introduction
When Habbo updated to V13 the Ecotron came about and made quite an entrance into the hotel. For the very first time users had the opportunity to recycle normal furniture and gain some rather exciting rewards. The rewards you could receive from the Ecotron were a lot different before September 2009 and many users would claim they were a lot better than the current Ecotron gifts. Let’s take a look at the old rewards:
Bundle of Tickets (gaming tickets) – Rewarded for recycling 10 items
Palm Chair – Rewarded for recycling 20 items
Water Garden – Rewarded for recycling 30 items
Polar Sofa – Rewarded for recycling 50 items
Moon Lamp – Rewarded for recycling 60 items
The only change to those old rewards (before the new rewards were introduced) was the ‘Bundle of Tickets’ – they were removed due to the removal of gaming tickets and were replaced with the ‘Eco-Friendly Penguin’. I’m sure many users will agree that these old rewards were fairly decent and impressive items to receive and most of the old rewards are worth quite a bit in the Habbo economy these days. Alas, these rewards were not here for long and were replaced in September 2009 along with a brand new system.
September 2009
“Introducing the all new Ecotron with fantastic new rewards on offer!” ~ Quoting the news article about the update. News of the new Ecotron system spread around the hotel rather quickly and caused a lot of excitement at first. The new system only allowed users to recycle 5 items at a time and also provided completely different rewards! The new reward system meant that a user wouldn’t always be sure of what reward they would receive due to different chances of getting different rewards, meaning some rare rewards arose from the new system. Here are the new rewards you can receive from the Ecotron:
Potted Cactus 1, 2, 3 & Eco Lamp 1, 2, 3 – You will always receive 1 of these if all else fails!
Eco Stool 1, 2, 3
Eco Coffee Table 1, 2, 3
Eco Armchair 1, 2, 3 – You have a 1 in 4 chance of receiving any of these 5 types of furniture.
Eco Light 1, 2, 3
Eco Curtain 1, 2, 3
Fruit Bowl 1, 2, 3 – You have a 1 in 40 chance of receiving any of these furniture items.
Eco Mushroom 2 – You have a 1 in 200 chance of receiving this furniture item.
Eco Mushroom 1 – You have a 1 in 2000 chance of receiving this furniture item.
The only change that has occurred with the latest version of Ecotron is the 2 rarest rewards you can receive. The ‘Eco Mushroom 1’ replaced the ‘Pear Tree’ and the ‘Eco Mushroom 2’ replaced the ‘Orange Tree’.
So, the Ecotron may seem all fine and dandy but many users have complained about the furniture that you can receive from the Ecotron and how the furniture looks. The new pieces of eco furniture are worth next to nothing (you can even find most of the Ecotron furniture in 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 credit shops) and have pretty awful & outdated colour schemes in my opinion. I certainly don’t want to recycle 5 pieces of spare furniture for a tacky, cheap Eco Lamp with a horrid colour scheme – that’s like asking me if I want to trade a throne for a duck!
The majority of the community are in vast agreement that the updated Ecotron furniture is vile and worthless due to its low value in the Habbo community, but what can you expect from furniture that can easily be achieved by everyone (e.g. The Eco Cacti.) We decided to go and gather some opinions about Eco furniture from the community – here’s what they said:
“I think Ecotron furniture is pretty worthless in regards to the common items, however the more “rare” items (such as the mushrooms) go great with mushroom walls and other furniture items and have a decent value. If you’re lucky to get an Eco Mushroom 1 or 2 for a few pieces of junk furniture, you’ve done well.” ~ An anonymous source
Publicised summed up her opinion on the Eco furniture in 1 simple word – “RUBBISH”.
“It’s cheap, it’s ugly, it’s worthless.” ~ MariaHopez
It seems that the community is almost in unison about their views on Ecotron furniture. Personally, the old rewards seem 10 times better to me and much more interesting than the current reward system – I feel that Sulake need to consider giving the Ecotron a “user friendly” and ‘interesting’ update soon.
* Oh, on a final note – There is no specific combination which guarantees a chance of getting a ‘rare’ prize! All outcomes are pure chance.
