Eurovision 2017!0
By - Posted 17th May, 2017 at 5:33 pm Entertainment

Did you watch Eurovision? This year’s had some bizarre entries and an even more bizarre winner! If you’d like to find out about it, hit the “read more” button now!

Eurovision Song Contest is a singing contest (hence the name of the event) that we like to watch every year! It always takes place around May, well, from what I’ve noticed anyway. Some of the songs in the competition make our jaws drop where other make us think “What the heck is this rubbish?”. This year I would say has been a bit anti-climatic as our winner wasn’t very exciting in my opinion. At least Portugal had finally won!

Salvador Sobral who represented Portugal sang a song called “Amar Pelos Dois” in front of thousands of people in Kyiv, Ukraine at Eurovision! It was a very slow song but Salvador seemed to wow everybody with his smooth vocals. I wouldn’t say this is my cup of tea but I still thought that the performance was good! I’m very happy that Portugal finally got to have their victory that they had been waiting for; they had been waiting a lifetime! Click here to listen to the winner’s song!

Although that song was the winner, it wasn’t my favourite. My favourite song was Moldova’s Hey Mamma by Sunstroke Project! Remember the Epic Sax Guy from the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest? He was back, pretending to play the sax on stage! I called this the new “Gangnam Style” as the dance just seemed to me like it would go viral! I love the catchy nature of the tune as well as the funky beat! Click here to listen to the song!

I enjoyed watching the voting results and I was surprised to see that the juries gave United Kingdom a lot of points. Normally that never happens! After the public vote, the UK ended up in 15th place so that’s really good considering that most times recently we end up near the bottom.

What did you think of this year’s Eurovision? Let me know in the comments section below!
