Fox warns that the 23rd season of ‘The Simpsons’ may be the very last…
‘The Simpsons’ is currently in its 23rd season and 20th Century Fox is threatening that it will axe the cartoon show if actors refuse to accept a significant pay-cut. Fox wants to cut the salaries for its main actors; Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwight, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer by a massive 35-40%. These actors currently earn about $8 million/£5.1 million/6 million Euros per. year, so if their salary was reduced by 40% they would still earn $4.8 million/£3.1 million/3.6 million Euros a year.
These actors play a variety of roles, such as;
Dan Castellaneta: Homer Simpson, Barney Gumble, Hans Moleman, Sideshow Mel and 22 other roles (he plays 26 roles in total)!
Julie Kavner: Marge Simpson, Patty Bouvier, Selma Bouvier and Jacqueline Bouvier.
Nancy Cartwright: Bart Simpson, Nelson Muntz, Ralph Wiggum and 5 other roles.
Yeardley Smith: Lisa Simpson.
Hank Azaria: Moe Szyslak, Carl Carlson, Disco Stu, Professor Frink and 20 other roles.
Harry Shearer: Ned Flanders, Lenny Leonard, Seymour Skinner, Otto Mann and 19 other roles.
‘The Simpsons’ is the longest-running American cartoon show with 23 seasons, followed by ‘South Park’ with 16 seasons and in third place is ‘The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet’ with 14 seasons. However, ‘The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet’ have more episodes than south park.
