For a few weeks now, we’ve known that Paul LaFontaine (Sulake CEO) has had a plan for a Hobba-like development of the Talent Tree/Helper system. We’ve now found exclusive screenshots and codes of exactly what the so-called ‘Guardian’ system will look like!
From what we can see, the program will involve the Guardians resolving bullying issues using the room’s chatlog. They will then be able to vote OK, Bad, or Very Bad to the issue. However, it will have to be seconded (or even thirded) by other Guardians. This is backed up by the codes ‘Wait for Voters – Vote – Wait for Results – Results.
The Guardian Panel is very similar to the already existing (new) Ilumina chat, including the Helper Tools panel. The only problem I can see is that there are too many popups on the left, and I can’t help but wonder if it clogs up the screen and leave no room for the Guardians to actually play Habbo.
We are yet to hear of the full extent of the Guardian’s powers, and many Habbo members are worried it will turn in to the power-abusing, safety-compromising Hobba system. Hopefully Sulake have learnt from their mistakes, and it will be modified with these in mind. I think it’s a good thing they’re trying to improve the moderation of the hotel at all, and I look forward to seeing it implemented.
