For those of us either living under a rock for the past week, or in a tough state of alcoholism due to the holidays, Habbo has released an iOS messenger for Habbos who want to communicate with their friends anywhere, anytime.
For all of those who have been living under that said rock throughout the last few years, iOS is basically the software that Apple portable products run on, such as the iPhone and iPad. This messenger is another step to take Habbo onto the ever-expanding mobile platform. This said platform is global and allows communication with friends on any hotel.
The platform itself is nothing out of the extraordinary and is simply a messenger. According to comments by the Community Manager on the .NL hotel, Vincent Beerends, it’s an element of the game in which Habbo cannot ignore and now has to even play catch-up. Beerends commented noting that: “The friends of Habbos within our virtual walls are often just as active as in the ‘real’ world. With Pocket Habbo we give players the tools to stay in touch anywhere.” This seems like quite a murky statement with it being even somewhat contradictory. We are still puzzled with numerous questions over whether there will be moderation within the messenger and whatnot. Moreover, this predicament is further emphasized by the scandal that plagued Habbo earlier in the year and it begs the question of whether Habbo are simply following a philosophy of sheer hypocrisy.
Although, we must note that some addicts such as Samanfa are jubilant over such developments, to the extent where they have wet their pants numerous times over. Interestingly, as I have noted within this article the system is iOS, which will make it available for Apple products, thus it will not reach other operating systems such as Android. In order for Habbo to truly maximize their reach, the messenger needs to be expanded.
