Most websites release real-life memorabilia at some point, but did you know Habbo has their own?
Often, aspiring musicians or established communities provide access to t-shirts, mugs and badges for their members in a bid to advertise without spending thousands on TV & radio adverts. Habbo have followed the trend on this, with the ‘Bobba Bag‘ on the right just one from a collection of pixel-themed gear.
Competitions were held earlier in Habbo’s life, making these goodies more valuable as they are currently not for sale in any retail outlet. This particular bag was listed on popular auction site eBay, as well as the ‘Just Another Day‘ book. One copy of the book sold for a whopping £170 on the same site, showing that even when Habbo is in a dire crisis of little speech and lonely rooms, people are prepared to pay lots for rare copies of seemingly-useless items.
However, that isn’t all that is sold on eBay relating to Habbo. You can search anytime of the year and find people selling in-game items, such as valuable Thrones or the currency of Gold Bars. In many countries, this is illegal, and it is against Habbo’s Terms of Use specifically. Sellers try to avert this by claiming they are selling a joke, story or imaginary wish and offer (typically a Gold Bar) as a “free gift” to go alongside it. Really, all they do is send you a recycled joke and meet in-game to transfer the virtual goods.
