Here is what Samantha had to share when we had our interview.

What made you decide to join Habbox?

In 2009, I came 2nd in the HxEE event that was on. One of the prizes I won was Forum VIP, so I needed to make an account to receive it. I’ve been here ever since!

What are your current role(s) at Habbox, and what is one of your memorable moments from working in one of those roles (or previous roles)?

I’m currently (the longest reigning and first female) Features Manager! I’m the one who tends to add VIP to your account if you win it in a competition. I also have the ability to add tokens and distribute awards.

One of my most memorable roles was being a News Reporter (before the Articles department returned). I logged onto Habbo one day and had a friend request from a Habbo staff member called ‘Yurre’. I accepted and she asked me if I was the one who had written the report on Habbox.com (I was scared at this point, as the report was bad mouthing Habbo a bit for the recoloured furniture they kept releasing if I remember correctly). I was honest and said it was me, but to my surprise – she LOVED my report! She loved it so much so that I managed to get an interview with her and it was available to view on Habbox for years until v7 came along (I have my old hard drive with the interview on as well). Yurre became a good friend of mine and we still talk occasionally when she’s online after all these years.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I’ve literally just bought a Nintendo Switch, so it’s mainly that at the moment! I bought my boyfriend one and I didn’t realise how much I would love it. So I took the plunge and bought my own. I also own so many adult colouring books, pens and pencils as well; so that’s another one of my hobbies.

How do you handle criticism?

I think I handle it fairly well, as long as there’s a balance between praise and criticism. I don’t think anyone would like it if they were criticized all the time! I’m also a person who is probably their own worst critic as I’m one who will admit when I’m wrong as I don’t gain anything from lying and dismissing it. I also feel bad or sad if I’ve not worked to the best of my abilities, so I basically criticise myself before anyone else does.

What movie can you watch over and over again?

Matilda! I absolutely love the film and if I see that it’s on TV then I’ll put it on ‘for 5 minutes’, then end up watching it all. Another film that closely follows it is Bridesmaids.

If you had one day left to live on the Earth, what would you do?

 No idea really, but it would depend who I was leaving behind. If, for example, I had children, I’d want to write birthday and Christmas cards out for them for all the years that I would miss. I’d also make sure that I was surrounded by family and my boyfriend as they’re the most important people!

What’s your current favourite song and why?

It changes a fair bit, and it’s usually songs I hear on the radio at work. However, one song that has been an underlying favourite for a very long time now is ‘Wish Away’ by Rick Astley.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

In terms of jobs, I’d probably still be where I am now – if I work somewhere I tend to stay there for ages (my last job was over 6 years at the same place). If that wasn’t possible and I had no reason to stay where I was, then I would love to live by the seaside. I think it would be lovely for the most part, but that’s probably a bit further in the future than 5 years. I’ll have probably moved out as well (hopefully with my boyfriend) and then who knows!

What motivates you to work hard?

Making other people happy and knowing I will have done a good job if I accomplish what I set out to do.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

It seems bad, but I don’t have that many. However, before I started working I was painfully shy, the jobs I have had have made me come out of my shell which I didn’t even think was possible. Granted, when I started my new job I was again shy, but now they can’t believe how quiet I was when I first started!
