The Show My Kitchen Rules has been going for a very long-time but now something is about to happen which will forever make My Kitchen Rules History!
As revealed in the promo a few months ago – before the Commonwealth Games took over our screens – it has been revealed that a team will be removed for the first time from a competition!
Manu Feildel, who is a My Kitchen Rules judge alongside Pete Evans, has sat down and revealed some details as to why this is the case. “As it kept on escalating, I started getting edgy and told them keep it down a bit but they went one word too many. They were attacking, threatening, they kept on going under their breath with comment after comment after comment.” He then continued on saying, “It wasn’t nice to hear. It went too far. Pete and I felt very uncomfortable and it was time to stop and say that’s enough.”
Given from what fans of the show have seen we all assume that the team that will be removed are 34 year old Sonya and 30 year old Hadil. Both girls have stirred up a lot of trouble ever since Group 1 and 2 merged together for the next stage of the competition. As for what has happened since the team was removed is they have not spoken to anyone since.
Feildel then discussed how the best decision was made as the show is for families to watch and by continuing to allow such behavior would not be a good look for the show and its crew. “This is a cooking show at the end of the day and this team’s attitude didn’t fit what the competition and the show is about. We had to make a decision for the sake of the series, for the sake of everyone. We had to make a change for the rest of the competition to continue.” Defending the decision to remove the team from the competition the judge said, “I hope this will affect MKR in a good way.”
As for the future of the show, Manu has expressed his thoughts and opinions and what his hopes for the future of the show are. “We want competitors with good skill of cooking who have opinions, yes, but not to this extent. We love the show but we want it to continue with the right people. I hope we never, ever have to do this again.”
It has been revealed that the other teams were completely taken aback and felt extremely hurt by what was happening and feeling very uncomfortable within the environment, despite being there to pursue their dreams. “I felt for everyone. I felt for the cooks – we were in their house – and for the other contestants, who were shocked at the attitudes of Sonya and Hadil,” Manu then said, “that’s not what the show is about.”
Manu even addressed a shocking detail regarding the team’s behavior. “Everyone was so upset. There are always fights, but this was too far.” Manu said, “We love people with opinions – otherwise it would be boring. A competition does mean a bit of fire, but [with] Sonya and Hadil, I felt like I was dealing with my teenage son!”
