Cool, sleek and stylish – the new user interface will bring a mature vibe to Habbo.

Habbo has had a few facelifts in its time and it’ll soon be going under the knife again; in the coming weeks we will have a brand new user interface to play with. The style has been dubbed ‘Illumina‘ due to its sleek, metallic appearance – a far cry from the cartoon-like predecessor that we all know and love.

Don’t panic! If you’re an old-timer that disapproves of all things new and shiny, you will be glad to hear that the Illumina style may not be compulsory (at least, in the future). It’s been hinted that you will have a selection of themes to choose from (click here) so relax; nobody will force the future upon you.

The Finnish hotel has already implemented the Illumina messenger and Habbo.com is expected to follow suit very soon. You may have noticed the new style being used already; the Helper’s Tool and the Call For Help panel has changed in preparation of the update – they change things bit by bit to ensure nobody dies of shock.

Perhaps a mature look will influence the players and promote mature conversations? By mature I mean civilized, of course. We don’t need another global mute…
