So the game I look forward to the most for this year is Kingdom Hearts 3, but with no specific release date beside 2018 I have to wait.
While I wait I want to take you guys with me on a journey to ones of the best (in my opinion) video game series in history.
So sit back, get some snacks and click read more to join me on this journey.
In 2001 the game development company Square Enix (who are known for their classic RPG series Final Fantasy) and Walt Disney shared offices in the same building, that led to a person from each company talking about a collaboration between the 2 companies, and that is how the Kingdom Hearts series started.
The series follow the protagonist Sora on his quest to save the Disney universe from traditional Disney villains, evil creatures called heartless.
But Sora is not alone, beside his friends Riku and Kairi, Sora is also accompanied by none other than Donald Duck and Goofy, Mickey is of cause the king and they are not the only recognizable characters we meet throughout the games.
Though our journey we come through many recognizable worlds like Agrabah known from Aladdin movies, Atlantica known from The Little Mermaid, Beast castle known from Beauty And The Beast, and many more. For a full list of the worlds that appears in the games click here.
It is almost impossible to go further into the plot without spoiling the story so instead of doing that I recommend you play the games or watch a lets play of them as the story is a big part of them.
The combat is hack and slash for most of the games in the series, u have a weapon and some spells that you use to win over the enemy, however Kindom Hearts: Chain Of Memories took another road when it came to the combat system.
In Chain Of Memories you collect cards that you use in specific combinations to attack your enemy, I would not recommend this as a starting point as the combat system can be hard to get into and therefor ruin the game.
The music in the games is unique with composers from both Disney and Square Enix you get a good mixture of the magical touch you hear in the music in allot of soundtracks to original Disney movies, and beautiful classical songs to set the mood of the scene in the game as you hear in allot of Final Fantasy games.
The games also have a main theme, Kingdom Hearts 1 has the song “Simple and clean” originally known in Japanese as “Hikari” and the song became such a success that it also featured in 3 spin off games, it was written and sung by Hikaru Utaka who later released the song on her debut album.
The theme for Kingdom Hearts 2 “Sanctuary” originally known in Japanese as “Passion” is also written and performed by Hikaru Utaka, Passion is the first of the songs to have a official music video.
As for Kingdom Hearts 3 we have gotten a sneak preview of the theme song and surprisingly for fans even though 12 years has passed since Sanctuary, Hikaru is also singing this theme called “Dont think twice” originally known in Japanese as “Oath” you can listen to the English version here and the Japanese version here.
As for right now there are 9 games released under the Kingdom Hearts franchise with 2 main games and 7 spin offs to fill in plot holes.
As you probably realised I can highly recommend these games.
