It’s been well over 40 years since Space Invaders was introduced to the public, and just now it’s been announced that the little bouncing space ship shooting the aliens has finally made it to the gaming hall of fame! I don’t know about you, but I used to spend hours playing this game, seeing how far I could get and how many of the little alien things I could actually kill. The game gave myself and others hours of entertainment!
The game was released early 1978 and has only just made it into the hall of fame for the gaming industry, however that’s not the only news that we have in-store for you, did you know the other games that are in the hall of fame? The 1978 space shooter was honoured alongside Sonic the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda, The Oregon Trail, Grand Theft Auto III and The Sims. They join the six inaugural titles from 2015: Doom, Pong, Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros, Tetris and World of Warcraft. It’s an amazing achievement for all the games to make it to the hall of fame, and this shows what a fantastic game they really was!
It’s just amazing that 40 years on, it only just gets the title now of making it to the hall of fame. Did you used to play this game?
