Abuse Survivors Conquering Their New Life!1
By - Posted 25th March, 2018 at 4:40 am The Real World

When it comes to the thing we call Life we all expect it to be like every other day. But for some it is another day of trying to survive the worst…

That is what happened when it came to the 13 Turpin children. They traveled a lot, and their house was in the worst conditions (such as the children sleeping in the attic and being kept awake at night). The children were first discovered in January after David and Louise Turpin’s 17-year-old daughter managed to climb out of a window and escape the prison which was her home. She managed to alert police with a deactivated cell phone, who came to her rescue and also saved her 12 siblings, whose ages ranged from 2 to 29 and were found shackled to their beds.

It has been revealed by the media that the children did not get a real education and had no knowledge of the police or even what medication was. They hadn’t been to the dentist once in their life, were hardly fed, and were only allowed to take a shower once a year. They were often beaten and tortured by their parents.

Despite all this there was one form of opportunity in the eldest Turpin son, 26-year-old Josh Turpin, who did attend college and received top marks in all his subjects. Some former students who attended class with him have said how if there was food to spare nearby he would eat a lot, and otherwise would keep to himself. He didn’t communicate with anyone and Louise would drive him to college, wait outside of his classroom for him to finish, then take him straight home. David however has since planned on withdrawing his son from the course.

The children have now recovered physically for the most part. The 7 older children are living together while the younger children are now in foster homes. They Skype each other everyday and are now learning about what its like to live in the real world.
David and Louise, currently being held separately with a $12m bail, have pleaded Not Guilty and await court judgement.

This goes to show how much we should value the lives we have as there are many out there who may have it far worse.
