Reality Review: Enter King Cowell – 29/01-05/020
By - Posted 4th July, 2015 at 9:32 pm

After last week’s segment, either Simon Cowell reads my articles on Habbox or he thinks like me,  I’d like to think he does both. It has been quite a week of breaking news in the reality TV corner. So let’s get down to business! Firstly, across the Atlantic we have witnessed a cull of the judges and presenter on the X Factor USA. It was almost as if Simon Cowell turned into some Darth Vader type figure (like he wasn’t before!) and started slowly but surely killing everyone off. Killing everyone off is exactly what he did with the firings of robot host Steve Jones, the lady from the planet Crymoria Nicole Scherzinger and the more shocking firing of Paula Abdul. Whilst the only judge to sign back on for season 2 is LA Reid, who was said to connect better to the audience. The reasons for their firings are still a bit fuzzy, although it is likely they got cut after the poor ratings, despite King Cowell hyping the show up by stating he was sure that they’d hit 20 million at least. Although to some reality TV pundits, including myself, his highness Cowell is being blinded the actual more significant problem of the show. The show was marred with production numbers being over-produced, often blinding the viewer (I had to go for multiple eye surgeries after watching), biased critiques from the judges towards their own acts and not being honest. Let’s face it; it was simply a much worse produced version of the hit reality show American Idol, which itself has seen a ratings decline this week, being beaten off its stop spot by The Big Bang Theory.  Reports are now surfacing that Cowell is trying to lure in some bigger name stars, such as Beyonce who was reportedly offered close to $100 million to make a judging appearance on the show. We’ll see how that all plays out in the weeks to come.

Whilst here in Britain, we have had some reality news ourselves. Firstly, Habbox would like to congratulate Denise Welch on her win on Celebrity Big Brother, despite the bookies odds all being placed on the more than crazy and less than talented mop head Frankie Cocozza to win. However, Welch’s victory may prove to be bitter sweet, as there are reports surfacing that the 53-year-old mother of two is cheating on long time husband Tim Healy with party planner Lincoln Townley. We will see how this saga develops! Also in Britain, Amanda Holden ran away from one of the auditions for Britain’s Got Talent earlier in the week to give birth and boy nothing in that labor process was simple! Apparently she was on her death bed and in critical condition as she had to have an emergency cesarean section and blood transfusions. Don’t fret though, she has since recovered and checked out of hospital a couple of days ago, and we would like to congratulate her on giving birth to a baby girl Hollie Rose Hughes, weighing just 6 lbs. She expects to be back judging on Britain’s Got Talent in less than 6 days. If you ask me, there is simply too much pressure on women in the entertainment industry nowadays.

Well there you go dear reader, we’ve gone from people getting kicked out the door to the back door on all the latest news in the reality scene this week. We’ll be back next week for another wrap up of all things reality, and believe me something dramatic is bound to happen- it always does!
