An estimated 60,000 festival enthusiasts pitched up at Worthy Farm in Pilton today ahead of the beginning of arguably the biggest music festival in the world – Glastonbury.
In typical Glasto fashion, muddy puddles and drenched fields awaited the ticket holders as they struggled towards the site to bagsy the top spots to pitch up their tents. Speaking of fashion – raincoats and wellies are all the range this year…
Rainy weather is unfortunately forecast for the festival across tomorrow and Saturday, which while a disappointment isn’t a shock. A shock would be a bit of sun, like last year’s festival, when fans were pleasantly surprised by the unexpected sunny and dry weekend. This year, it’s not looking great.
However for many, the rain is the last thing on their mind when they have mind blowing headline acts U2, Coldplay and Beyonce to look forward to over the next few days.
This year’s festival sold out in a record breaking four hours, but unfortunately for those looking to get their hands on tickets for the festival in the near future- you’re going to have to wait a year! Next year, the festival is taking a break in order to rest the land, and will continue in 2013. Fair enough, as we’ve seen – it can get pretty messy.
