Panic! Fire! Imminent meltdown!
Nah, it’s all good, little Habbos. Despite my clickbaity headline, we’re supposedly not going to see any real changes. That said, if you’re interested in seeing what our favourite developers at Sulake are up to this week then hit that “read more” button below!
It was reported yesterday that a majority shareholding of Sulake had been sold off, and this has now been confirmed. The Finnish company Elisa, who bought out the entire stock of Sulake back in 2013, have sold off 60% of its holdings in the company to Dutch gaming corp OrangeGames. Both our beloved Habbo and the newly released Hotel Hideaway have been added to the OG portfolio, and there are seemingly plans for more to come!
Liisa Puurunen (CEO of Sulake) has stated that this new deal “should see the release of many” future games from Sulake, and far from being an interfering overlord, OrangeGames looks set to be a strong investor while allowing Sulake to retain its independence and identity. Money aside, we’ll be seeing no enforced changes to our favourite hangout as a result of this change of stock. Realistically, we almost certainly won’t notice any (immediate) difference just like we didn’t when Elisa bought the company 5 years ago.
