Humans tend to do weird things. Some of these weird things catch on and are done by people all over the world until they become normal. Some of these are decent, but there are some pretty bad ones out there. Click that “Read more and comment” button to find out more.
I’m going to start with a new addition to the trend family: Fidget Spinners. It took pretty long for them to catch on; they were invented in 1993. However, they have had a huge impact. Originally made to help those with mental states such as autism and ADHD, the fidget spinner is now being used by everyone. I have no idea when this craze will end, but if I’m being honest, I hope it’s soon. Fidget Spinners are just so… annoying.
Next up: Clickbait. Another form of misleading or over-exaggerated headlines, clickbait has taken websites like YouTube by storm. This type of thing has broken the YouTube economy. Clickbaited videos get more views, and videos with more views earn more money, so basically YouTube has become a clickbaiting contest. This used to just involve completely different titles, or attractive thumbnails (you know what I mean), but now people use arrows and circles, as well as humongous titles in their thumbnails.
This one is the definition of the internet: Memes. We’ve all seen them. Those funny pictures with funnier captions. That is one way you could describe a meme, but it’s not the way I’m talking about it. I’m talking about the pictures people use in memes. A few popular ones today are the doge and Pepe the Frog. If you don’t know what those are, you probably don’t have an internet connection, which I know you do, otherwise you couldn’t read this article.
Those are just a few things which make me think about alternate timelines. I know, I have a weird train of thought. Let me explain. These things were all made by very normal people like you and I, and chances are, there are more to come. That makes me think, if there are always more crazes to come, there must be a limit. The world will end eventually, and when it does, so will crazes and trends. We won’t have experienced every possible craze, but in my opinion, others will.
