Blend Images

This guide will show you how to blend two images using Photoshop

Step 1: Choose the images

Find two images you wish to blend. Open them in Photoshop and put them over each other on a separate layer.

Step 2: Apply a mask

Click on the layer on the top and and click the mask button.

Step 3: Gradient tool

Press G to go to the gradients tool. If the fill bucket tool appears when you press G, go to the tool bar and right click on the fill bucket tool. Here you can select the Gradient option.

Step 4: Choose a gradient

Choose a gradient that is black, to white. Make sure that your gradient bar at the top reflects the example below.

Step 5: Blend them

Now, holding shift, drag a gradient from the left of the page to the right, or the opposite (you choose!). Once you’ve done it, let go of the mouse button and it should apply the mask. If you don’t like it, click the mask and click ctrl + i (or cmd + i on a Mac). This will invert the colours.

Congratulations, you’ve faded two images!
